Winter Fuel/Community Energy Grants 2023-2024

Scottish Power Renewables (SPR) has agreed that Barrhill CIC can offer winter fuel grants of £475 this year, and the name has also been updated from ‘winter fuel’ to ‘Community Energy grants’ to bring it into line with SPR supported schemes elsewhere. Thanks go to Scottish Power Renewables and Kilgallioch Community Benefit Company for providing the funds for this initiative.

For this year’s community energy grants we are moving to using an online process and paying the grants direct into people’s bank accounts. We hope this will be more convenient for most people, and hard copy forms can still be used by people who are not online. For the 2023-2024 payments, BCIC is using Foundation Scotland to support the distribution of these grants. We have a joint data processing agreement (part of the privacy notice) that you can view here.

To be able to submit your application you will need:.

  • A copy of your Council Tax notice for this year
  • A recent bank statement in the same name and address

A photo of the documents is just as good as a scan (as long as it’s legible!) and you can cross out all the personal financial information – we’re just looking for the sort codes and account details and to cross-check the address. These documents, along with ticking a box to accept the conditions of grant will enable Foundation Scotland to make payment direct to your bank account. There are two payment runs a week, on Tuesday and Thursdays.

  • If you provided an email address last year Foundation Scotland will have already contacted you by email with a grant offer and how to log on and upload documents..
  • If you haven’t received an email, you can download a printable form here and return this by email (don’t forget the attachments), to the Hall by post (please don’t provide any document originals that you want back) or come to the Hall on the 9th December between 10 and 12 for a breakfast roll and to get your application processed..

If there are any problems with your application once submitted Foundation Scotland will contact you, or if you have problems, questions or concerns you can ring Foundation Scotland on 0131 524 0300 or email enquiries@bcic.org.uk or grants@foundationscotland.org.uk

Litter

Litter along the roadsides is an ongoing problem in and around the village. The Community Council has been negotiating with South Ayrshire Council about litter signs for almost 4 years now with still no end product.

In a hope of improving the litter problem the CC has purchased litter pickers, gloves and bags which are available to anyone who is motivated enough to do some litter picking.

If you need any of these items contact either:

Ann Robertson on 07766 740179 or Andrew Clegg on 01465 821456

DOG FOULING AND USE OF POOP BAGS

The Community Council would like to remind dog owners that "poop" bags are available free of charge from the dispensers at either end of the village.
Please be considerate to other members of the community and clean up after your dogs misdeeds.

The use of "poop" bags has been successful in helping to keep the village clean but some people are still being inconsiderate in having very kindly bagged their dogs poop they have then just hung the bag in a nearby bush or tree. Being a generous soul I would like to think that they were put there with the intention of collecting them on the return journey of their walk rather than a deliberate act. Please dispose of "poop" bags in a hygienic and environmentaly friendly way.

Ann Robertson on 07766 740179 or Andrew Clegg on 01465 821456

and we will get the supplies needed to you.

DOG FOULING AND USE OF POOP BAGS

The Community Council would like to remind dog owners that "poop" bags are available free of charge from the village shop.

BARRHILL NEWS March 2023

Barrhill Community Council – By Election 2023

As you will be aware there is currently a contested election for the Barrhill Community Council, as we received 3 nominations and only have 2 vacancies. Ballot papers were sent out on 1st March 2023 to all electorates within the Barrhill Community Council Boundary.

Part of the nomination form asks the applicant to submit a statement if they wish to in support of their nomination should it go to a contested election. Ballot papers have been sent out stating that Kenneth McLaren did not wish to make a statement, unfortunately this has been an administrative error on South Ayrshire Councils behalf, for which we apologise profusely to Kenneth, the Community Council, and the wider community. Please note below the statement that Kenneth did provide:

As a member of Barrhill Council, I believe I can help to bring a balanced approach to any decision making, ensuring that the needs of the community are met.

If you have still to return your ballot paper, we would ask that you consider Kenneth's statement along with that of Jamie Burgess and Rob Rimmer when making your decision of who you wish to represent on the Barrhill Community Council.

Ann Robertson on 07766 740179 or Andrew Clegg on 01465 821456

and we will get the supplies needed to you.

Church Services

Ths services in the hall have restarted and are on the third Sunday of the month.

DOG FOULING AND USE OF POOP BAGS

The Community Council would like to remind dog owners that "poop" bags are available free of charge from the village shop.
